Support of MBEF's 2018/19 Annual Appeal is Critical
Without the support of the Annual Appeal each year, the programs that we rely upon to strengthen our schools would be eliminated. Whether our kids are learning an instrument in music, exploring a passion in an elective class, tinkering in MakerSpace, trying a sport in PE, or researching post-graduation pathways with a counselor, there is no question that these parent-funded programs have a profound impact on their experience in MBUSD. Our Annual Appeal is the primary source of funding for these grants – please help ensure they continue and show your support today

Thank you to those who have already contributed. If you are not sure if you participated yet this year, check out the complete list of All Annual Appeal Donors. Special thanks to our Lead Annual Appeal Donors who have donated $5,000 or more. Please Give Today!

Congratulations to Kim Holz, California Teacher of the Year!
Our own Kim Holz, fourth grade teacher at Robinson Elementary, was named one of five extraordinary 2019 California Teachers of the Year by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Torlakson. Mrs. Holz has been teaching multiple subjects for 38 years, 21 of which have been at Robinson Elementary. She is known for her ability to help every student reach their potential by using personalized learning and differentiated instruction. MBUSD Superintendent of Schools Mike Matthews was thrilled but not surprised to learn of Mrs. Holz’s achievement. “Mrs. Holz has a passion for teaching that her students sense each and every day. She takes great pride in teaching students to think critically and deeply about what they are learning.” Congratulations Mrs. Holz!

Inventing Tomorrow: Exclusive Screening & Discussion – December 4th
First seen at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, INVENTING TOMORROW follows six young scientists from around the globe as they tackle some of the most complex environmental issues facing humanity today – right in their own backyards. Each student is preparing original scientific research that he or she will defend at the largest convening of high school scientists in the world, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Framed against the backdrop of the severe environmental threats we now face, the audience is immersed in a global view of the planetary crisis, through the eyes of the generation that will be affected by it most.

Inventing Tomorrow proves that a game-changing idea, combined with the guts to make it happen, could change the world. After the movie, a panel of MBUSD educators will discuss how we can foster innovation and courage in the next generation, helping them to find the courage to take on our planet’s environmental threats. Reserve your seat online to be part of this inspiring event.
