MB Schools Smash It Again

Parents aren't the only ones noting the value of good schools. According to real estate blog, MB Confidential, "when [buyers] come for the schools, they're creating a virtuous cycle - more people who prioritize education will tend to bring students who perform well, thereby enticing more people to come for the schools. For the long-term future of MB, and MB real estate, that's good." Click here for more.

MBEF Introduces 12-month Installments

For the first time ever, you can make your annual MBEF donation over a full year instead of the previous eight-month maximum.   The hope is you will consider giving a little more for the upcoming appeal, which officially begins in July.  Increased donations are needed to cover the cost of additional grants that saved small 3rd grade classes, reading specialists, and small English classes at MBMS and Costa. In total, parent donations help fund $5.4 million of grants at our seven schools. See the entire list of 2013-2014 grants here.

Donate now to take full advantage of the installment plan.

MBEF Recognizes Top Volunteer Last month, MBEF held its second annual Volunteer Recognition Night to acknowledge outstanding efforts of its volunteers, especially our Annual Appeal and Wine Auction volunteers. It is because of volunteers that MBEF has very low overhead (less than 10%), leaving more funds for our $5.4 million in grants next year.  Outgoing Annual Appeal Chair Dawn Bush received MBEF's Volunteer Excellence Award. The event, which was held on the rooftop of Equinox, was generously donated by the club and several local vendors.   Read more.

Great Schools Forever

Endowment Nears $10 million

Back in the 1990s, MBEF leaders started an endowment fund, modeled after those funds at universities and private schools.  The bold concept was (and still is) to build a sustainable funding source for our schools. Now, the MBEF Endowment Fund is just a few hundred thousand short of its initial funding goal of $10 million - the point at which returns can help fund annual grants.  Join in the Endowment Challenge at this year's Wine Auction and help us make history!  Learn more about the Endowment here
