MBEF 2022 Community Survey of Parents
Over the past four decades, funding from MBEF has become even more critical to the caliber of education available in our local public schools. Without MBEF, many of the academic and enrichment programs that ensure students have access to a well-rounded, high-quality education would not be feasible.

As a community-driven organization, it’s our goal to align our strategy with the priorities of parents, teachers, and community members. We value feedback and survey our stakeholders every few years to help determine our strategic direction and program priorities. See the Survey Results.

Yes on Measure A – Strong Schools and Strong Community
For nearly four decades our Manhattan Beach schools have struggled with the insufficient and unstable funding from the State of California. When education funding was restructured with the passage of Proposition 13, the portion of property taxes to fund our schools was locked in at a nominal percentage and we have been trying to stabilize ever since. Generous donations to MBEF have ensured our schools are among the best in the state despite the inadequate funding, but the state fluctuations continue to challenge our district. Measure A gives our community the opportunity to support our schools in the way we imagined. Learn more about Measure A to see how it will bring adequate funding to our schools.

MBUSD Superintendent Dr. Bowes Wants to Hear From You!
Since Dr. Bowes began as Superintendent at the start of the academic year, he has been dedicated to learning all he can about Manhattan Beach and the school community. To educate himself on the priorities of our school community, he is posing the following questions to students, staff, and MBUSD families:

  1. What is something great about MBUSD?
  2. What is something in MBUSD that could stand a second look?
  3. What is something new we can try?
  4. What is a dream headline you would like to see about MBUSD five years from now?

Take a moment to ponder these four questions and let Dr. Bowes know your thoughts and ideas by emailing him at superintendent@mbusd.org. He welcomes your input.
