We Cannot Do It Without You!
Each year MBEF's Annual Appeal is the primary source of funding for the programs our students have come to rely upon in our schools. We need the support of every family in our District to join the effort to sustain MBEF’s impact and reach our goal of $5 million – we have just $275,000 to go. Please show your support so we can keep MBEF programs in our schools!

Thank you to those who have already contributed. If you are not sure if you participated yet this year, check out the complete list of All 2018/19 Annual Appeal Donors. Special thanks to our Lead Annual Appeal Donors who have donated $5,250 or more.

MBEF will host two separate presentations, plus a limited-access Meet & Greet Package. We recommend that all MBUSD families reserve their tickets now – the event will open to the entire South Bay after February 15th.

Join South Bay Families Connected on Tuesday, February 12th at 6:30pm at Mira Costa High School Auditorium to hear Dr. Roberts speak about how that day was a pivotal moment in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, and the importance of understanding the history to combat racism and discrimination today. Teachers Across MBUSD Are Driving Innovation
Congratulations to the recipients of our Teachers Driving Innovation (TDI) Grants for the 2018/19 school year. Each year MBEF provides our educators with an opportunity to exercise their passion for teaching, develop ideas, collaborate with colleagues, and connect with the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and talent within MBUSD through the TDI grants. Grants range from introducing virtual reality equipment to Mira Costa's Technology and Engineering Department to take students inside the human body and around the world, to the beloved Harry Potter Week at MBMS that brings teachers and students together to inspire a love of reading. Learn more about all of the approved 2018/19 TDI Grants here.

Social Inclusion Efforts in Our Schools
Creating an inclusive environment for all students remains a priority for our community and the MBEF Board of Directors. Originally introduced in 2016/17, MBEF's Social Inclusion Grants focus on funding efforts that decrease discrimination and increase social inclusion of all community members regardless of race, creed, ability, and sexuality. This year, Meadows 5th graders will take a trip to the California African American Museum during Black History month to celebrate African American culture. The annual International Day invites students and families districtwide to appreciate the rich cultural diversity of MBUSD and promote a community of inclusion and respect of all cultures by embracing and celebrating our similarities and differences. Check out the complete list of Social Inclusion Grants here.
